Canadian country singer Bobbi Smith was elated upon receiving an email from Jim Bradford of the Make A Wish Foundation. Bradford purchased Smith’s CD “I Can’t Help Myself” from the popular on-line auction market, Ebay. After passing the CD along to the children of Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in Nashville Tennessee, he received an affirmative response from Smith’s music. “I noticed her music gives the children energy and puts them in a positive mood when their situations tend to be quite grim.” Bradford, looking to give the children I-pods filled with their favourite music, contacted Smith in hopes of surprising the children with new music from Bobbi Smith. Smith, moved by Bradford’s story, will be traveling to Nashville to meet the children of Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.
For Smith the request for new music couldn’t have come at a better time. After just putting the final touches on four new, self written, songs the Vancouver based entertainer was more than happy to press pre-release copies and send the new tunes down south. “It’s very warming to find that my music, released only in Canada, has traveled all that way and is putting smiles on the faces of children facing such obstacles. I feel honoured that my music energizes them, and that my album has become such a favourite that Jim Bradford would contact me for more. I’m amazed.”
Bobbi Smith’s music career began when she was just eleven years old. A career that led the young vocalist to major music festivals in Canada opening for some of country music’s most renowned acts, Tim McGraw, Brooks and Dunn, and the Dixie Chicks. After seven consecutive radio hits and seven years of solid touring Smith took a step back from the music scene. Now, after a few years of experimenting with different genres of music, Smith has come full circle, ready to start a new leg of her country music career. With the brand new launch of bobbismith.com, Smith will unveil her anticipated recording project to the world, followed by national radio release of a new single.”It’s really gratifying to hear heartfelt feedback from your listeners, but this response from Jim and the kids at Vanderbilt Hospital is one of the most rewarding response I’ve ever received.” To view photos and video footage of Bobbi Smith’s visit to the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in Nashville Tennessee visit www.bobbismith.com
